Lizard Eyes Deviled Eggs

I always make deviled eggs for GT tailgates. They are simple and taste delicious. I saw a post last week where they made deviled eggs to look like lizard eyes. I knew they would be perfect for Halloween and had to try them out! I used my normal deviled eggs recipe and just made a few modifications: dyed the yoke mixture green & added an olive to look like the center of the eye. I also tried to make the paprika looks like veins, but it was way too time consuming and wasn't coming out quite right . In the end I just ended up sprinkling the paprika like I normally do. I think they looked fun, creepy and festive still so they were definitely a success.

Here's the recipe I always use:

Ingredients

  • 6 hard-cooked eggs
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon prepared mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Paprika

Directions
Slice eggs in half lengthwise; remove yolks and set whites aside. In a small bowl, mash yolks with a fork. Add the mayonnaise, sugar, vinegar, mustard and salt; mix well. Stuff or pipe into egg whites. Sprinkle with paprika. Refrigerate until serving.
